The opportunity
With a bold history of innovation and industry the North West of England is a natural choice to lead the way in developing alternative sources of energy.
The use of such alternatives will help industry decarbonise and the UK reach net zero by 2050. While establishing the region as a hub of innovation and clean growth, the HyNet North West programme will create economic opportunities that will directly benefit the region.
It will:
- Attract inward investment to increase regional prosperity
- Boost the region’s reputation as a highly attractive location for sustainable business
- Provide opportunities for local people to develop new skills and to train to work in exciting and innovative sectors
- Help retain companies looking to decarbonise their businesses
- Directly create new jobs
Cadent’s HyNet North West Hydrogen Pipeline will help unlock these opportunities and deliver the hydrogen needed to meet the UK’s net zero targets. It would connect customers to a supply of low carbon hydrogen, helping cut down carbon emissions and reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emissions from industry in the North West.
